Top Ten Characters We Would Cosplay

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish.

Because of our religious beliefs, we do not celebrate Halloween. However, we do cosplay to comic con, anime con etc. Here are some characters I have dressed up as or will cosplay as in the future and I've included some that Jayse will cosplay as in the future because why not.

1) X-23- Wolverine's clone, soon to be introduced to movie-goers in the upcoming movie LOGAN, and my favorite character in the Marvel Universe.

2) Death- from Sandman by Neil Gaiman. I cannot wait to cosplay as her one day!

3) Sailor Scouts from Sailor Moon- I've cosplayed as Sailor Jupiter (green) before but I would like to cosplay as Sailor Mars one day.

4) Disney Princess- I would want to go simple and no wigs if I could so: Pocahontas, Jasmine, or Belle

5) Cana Alberona from the anime/manga Fairy Tail

6) Zatanna Zatara- DC comics

7) Moana- the new Disney princess debuting next year

Baby Jay Cosplay: One day my Jayse will go to anime con with us. Here are some options for him when that day comes.

Gohan from Dragonball Z (or as a family cosplay: Goku, ChiChi, and Gohan)

Ninja Turtles

Jake from Jake and the Neverland Pirates

From the Library #8

It's been a while since I've done one of these posts. I've started getting books from the library again, so I thought I'd start this up again. For those who don't know, I used to do these posts once a month about books that I would get from the library because I couldn't get to review them all but I liked to share what I was reading with everyone. With my new resolution to read and blog more frequently, I thought I would start up these posts again.

Blurbs and links are from

Queen of Hearts by Colleen Oakes
As Princess of Wonderland Palace and the future Queen of Hearts, Dinah’s days are an endless monotony of tea, tarts, and a stream of vicious humiliations at the hands of her father, the King of Hearts. The only highlight of her days is visiting Wardley, her childhood best friend, the future Knave of Hearts — and the love of her life.

When an enchanting stranger arrives at the Palace, Dinah watches as everything she’s ever wanted threatens to crumble. As her coronation date approaches, a series of suspicious and bloody events suggests that something sinister stirs in the whimsical halls of Wonderland. It’s up to Dinah to unravel the mysteries that lurk both inside and under the Palace before she loses her own head to a clever and faceless foe.

Part epic fantasy, part twisted fairy tale, this dazzling saga will have readers shivering as Dinahs furious nature sweeps Wonderland up in the maelstrom of her wrath.

Familiar characters such as Cheshire, the White Rabbit, and the Mad Hatter make their appearance, enchanting readers with this new, dark take on Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

“Aerity…” Her father paused as if the words he was forming pained him. “I must ask you to sacrifice the promise of love for the sake of our kingdom.”

She could only stare back, frozen.

When a strange beast terrorizes the kingdom of Lochlanach, fear stirs revolt. In an act of desperation, a proclamation is sent to all of Eurona—kill the creature and win the ultimate prize: the daughter of King Lochson’s hand in marriage.

Princess Aerity knows her duty to the kingdom but cannot bear the idea of marrying a stranger... until a brooding local hunter, Paxton Seabolt, catches her attention. There’s no denying the unspoken lure between them... or his mysterious resentment.

Paxton is not the marrying type. Nor does he care much for spoiled royals and their arcane laws. He’s determined to keep his focus on the task at hand—ridding the kingdom of the beast—but the princess continues to surprise him, and the perilous secrets he’s buried begin to surface.

Inspired by the Grimm Brothers’ tale “The Singing Bone,” New York Times bestselling author Wendy Higgins delivers a dark fantasy filled with rugged hunters, romantic tension, and a princess willing to risk all to save her kingdom.

Here's one that I'm on hold for:

Crimson Bound by Rosamund Hodge
When Rachelle was fifteen she was good—apprenticed to her aunt and in training to protect her village from dark magic. But she was also reckless— straying from the forest path in search of a way to free her world from the threat of eternal darkness. After an illicit meeting goes dreadfully wrong, Rachelle is forced to make a terrible choice that binds her to the very evil she had hoped to defeat.

Three years later, Rachelle has given her life to serving the realm, fighting deadly creatures in an effort to atone. When the king orders her to guard his son Armand—the man she hates most—Rachelle forces Armand to help her find the legendary sword that might save their world. As the two become unexpected allies, they uncover far-reaching conspiracies, hidden magic, and a love that may be their undoing. In a palace built on unbelievable wealth and dangerous secrets, can Rachelle discover the truth and stop the fall of endless night?

Inspired by the classic fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood, Crimson Bound is an exhilarating tale of darkness, love, and redemption.

(This is a standalone novel, not part of the Cruel Beauty Universe.)

This Week The Trend...

It has been another hard week at work and it's only Wednesday. I should be modifying an exam but right now I'm just enjoying the silence before my husband, Jonathan, gets home from picking up Jayse. It feels so weird calling Jayse "Baby Jay" sometimes because my little baby is now a rambunctious toddler. He doesn't look like a baby anymore but he will always be Baby Jay to me.

Current song on repeat: This Week The Trend by Relient K

It always seems like just when things get better, everything snowballs out of control. While I'm still getting comfortable sharing my feelings in the blogosphere, I'm starting to realize that blogging makes me happy and reading, comic books, k-dramas, and Disney all make me happy too.

I guess I'm just reflecting and trying to find the good in all of the bad and the small bit of light to nurture in the darkness to make all the negativity fade away.

That's all for now. Back to binge watching Itazura Na Kiss: Love in Tokyo 2.

Top Ten Characters I'd Name A Pet After

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish.

This week is top ten characters I'd name a pet/child after. I did a top ten about names for a child before, so I thought this one I'd focus more on pets. Baby Jay loves animals and we want to get a dog when he's older. Right now my sister is living with us and she has a black-and-white cat named Arrow who looks a lot like Mr. Mistoffelees from the Broadway show CATS and Baby Jay ADORES him.

Anyway, here's my list:

Howl - after Howl from Howl's Moving Castle

Calcifer- the fire demon from Howl's Moving Castle

JiJi - Kiki's black cat from the Ghibli movie Kiki's Delivery Service

Sirius/Padfoot - Sirius Black from Harry Potter

Remus - Remus Lupin from Harry Potter

Dinah - not as well known as the other characters on my list. Dinah is Alice's cat in Alice in Wonderland. I loved the idea of a pretty white cat having the name Dinah.

Luna - the black cat from Sailor Moon and Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter (though I would also name a baby girl Luna).

Artemis - the white cat from Sailor Moon

That's all I can think of for now!
